“What Should I Donate?”
Monday, August 14th, 2006, 5:31 pmThat’s a question we’ve been hearing from a lot of the companies we’ve reached out to in the community. It’s a good question — because the best way for a charity auction to generate the most proceeds is to offer items that its participants are willing to bid high on.
We’ve given a few of our own suggestions — a number of which you’ll probably see in the next few days as we post new donations. But we’d like to offer this one up to the community.
What do you think? Got any suggestions? Get creative! In particular, we’d like to hear your thoughts on:
- Donations valued at under $100
- Donations valued from $100 to $500
- Donations valued from $500 to $1,000
- Donations valued at over $1,000
Don’t be shy — your suggestion might just inspire someone to make a donation that’s a homerun at the auction.

I’ll bid on cool stuff like a quality leather jacket with your company logo, your company product (if you are Starbucks, REI, Tiffany, etc.), a dinner for two or four in any major city, a weekend timeshare at an island or mountain resort. Tickets to the Superbowl, US open or the Masters.

Oh and a new Cobra 460 10.5 Titanium and graphite (Senior flex) driver wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
